Maze 8 VS2a with SP1

 

This public release of Maze VS2a is aimed at providing a consolidated, stable and feature rich product to allow you to move with us into the future.  Maze VS2a is the last major release of Version Eight before the release of Version Nine.

Maze VS2a uses a different methodology for updating batches, reducing lockout time and improving speed of processing.  Much of the processing has been transferred to the server rather than the client, which enables us to take advantage of the power of SQL Server.

Major features in this release:

  • New batch processing where the CARL ADD FOR procedures for financial transactions have been replaced by Stored Procedures and Triggers
  • Payroll enhanced to comply with the quarterly Superannuation Guarantee Legislation
  • New menu option under 'Batch' called 'Reverse'.  This allows transactions to be automatically loaded for reversal
  • Batch options are now set in the menu icon making it easier for users when crating a batch
  • Reporting BAS transactions across year-end has been amended
  • General Ledger Cash sales now included for Stock items
  • Asset depreciation private percentage (%) tracks business owners/partners drawings by individual asset
  • Screen Search facility enhanced to cober a range of operators eg. St.Birthdate > Value
  • New Install Process to automatically Uninstall and provide scripts for Silent Install
  • Creditors financial screen now indicates the unpaid portion of a creditor invoice.  There is also a link to all the payments for an invoice with the cheque number
  • Payroll reversals
  • BSB field increased to accommodate international banks
  • Picture compression allowed on import and the importation of school photographs into the database has been simplified
  • School code can be automatically prefixed to an export file - good for multi-campus and grouped schools
  • Ability to enter absentees with a barcode reader
  • Relationships integrity report
  • A number of enhancements in the schema in absentees, staff, subject selections, transfer, campus and updated formats in asset, staff, payroll, sickbay and absentees

Service Packs for Maze VS2a

Patches and Service Packs have been released to address any problems identified during the lifecycle of this release.

Service Pack 1 is supplied on the VS2a public release CD.  It addresses a number of issues in a single update and includes all previously released patches.

The service pack addresses a number of:

  • application layer issues
  • system layer issues
  • requests for functionality

This service pack also includes our new patch management software called the Application Layer Update Utility (ALUU) which automatically deploys workarounds, fixes and changes for schema and formats.  It is what you will need to use to apply all patches and service packs from the RM Asia Pacific HelpDesk.

RM Asia Pacific Software Release Policy

RM Asia Pacific follows a two-stage release process for Maze.  The first release is a controlled release where only authorised service providers are given the new software for implementation.  This is to ensure that the consultants implementing the software have demonstrated capability in managing upgrades and can respond to any issues that arise in a controlled and efficient manner.

The release moves to a public release once we are satisfied that the release procedures and documentation are sufficient for public installation.  Self developing sites and unauthorised service providers can then perform upgrades.
